About the Artist
Native Iowa artist Bruce A. Morrison's interest in all things of nature stem from his early years along the Des Moines River valley in north central Iowa. Although interested in all wild things - birds and the landscape were always foremost in his mind. Since 1983, Bruce has been accepted into the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's internationally acclaimed "Birds in Art" exhibition 6 times, and several of Bruce's serigraphs, drawings and paintings can now be found in the LYWAM's permanent collection.
"Our natural heritage is so important to me; it's a God given treasure upon the earth for us to use - with sincere respect. I am compelled to celebrate this gift in my work, whether it be a painting in plein-air or in the studio...or in the field through the lens or ground glass of the camera."
Nature photography is also a passion of Morrison's and many of his photographs have been published as covers or for the illustration of articles for magazines, and in calendars distributed in the U.S. and Canada. Many of Bruce's works - paintings, drawings, serigraphs, and photography, can be found in public, private, and corporate collections in North America and overseas.

Bruce has a deep personal interest in the natural heritage of our remaining tallgrass prairie, and much of his work over the past two decades has been deeply influenced by this subject. He has spent these years in devoting time, energy, and his work in furthering and encouraging prairie reconstruction/restoration projects and education in NW Iowa.
My Work

Paintings
I work in oils, both in the studio and en plein air (outside). My focus has been on the landscape, but also favor native flora of the tallgrass prairie and fauna (mainly birds). Paintings are sold fixed in Plein Air style frames of the best quality. Commissions are only accepted on an individual basis. To learn more - contact the artist for specifics. Many of my paintings are in museum, corporate and private collections.

Drawings
Drawings are done in graphite, color pencil, oil pastels, or a combination of media. I favor native flora of the tallgrass prairie and fauna (mainly birds), but also small scale landscapes. Many of these are in museum, corporate and private collections. Drawing commissions are not currently being accepted.

Photography
I have built my photographic body of work through the years via exhibition and publication of medium and large format films (2 1/4 and 4X5 cameras). Today my photography work is mainly in the digital realm. Our natural heritage and the landscape are my subject matter. Most of my printing is done in-house (in the studio) using fine art Epson printers with archival inks and papers.
